sweetheart, bucky's gonna think, heart feelin' so tender you'd think he'd had it cooking in a crockpot all day long, sweetheart because that's his stevie through and through, and because that's often the first word on bucky's lips in the morning anyways.

i see steve carrying the goodies to the bed while singing 'happy birthday', a little off-key, a little giddy, almost tripping over a couple times 'cause alpine keeps winding her fluffy body around his ankles - she's a domestic hazard, really -

and when he sets the tray down in front of bucky, eyes twinkling with this youthful sort of hope, like a kid about to unwrap his own presents, and asks bucky to "make a wish, buck", his pink lips sweeter than sin, well bucky almost cracks and tells steve his best-guarded secret.

(it's not really a secret, not to either of them, not these days.)

(he's already got everything he's ever wanted, and it's right here, in his bed, offering him a smile and a candle to celebrate his life with. offering him the life bucky's finally happy to celebrate. the life they keep building together, adding to it one day at a time.)

i think they end up feeding each other little morsels of breakfast, like say: a slippery slice of strawberry, a piece of nearly-burnt toast dripping with jam, a forkful of pancake soaked in maple syrup. all sweet, all richly decadent. i don't think they end up eating a lot though, not right away.

they reach for each other, fingers nice an' sticky, lips shiny with butter and syrup, and somehow steve's slipping back under the duvet, nestling low, low between bucky's thighs,

and bucky's toes are curling, his whole body sweet, warmed by steve's mouth, arching into steve's kisses, his fingers licked clean by steve's searing tongue, and it's a good job steve doesn't mind getting his hair tugged on a little, bucky thinks a tad wildly - because when steve scoops some syrup off of the plate with his fingertip, and trails it languidly down the length of bucky's flushed cock just to lap it up with the flat of his tongue, bucky isn't sure he knows how to control his hands anymore.

I notice difference though. For naviers supported/worshippers,they will always be written and their objective is to agree with navier no matter what. If they disagree with her,the story will always portray people as evil and are selfish to get their own gain. Heck,I never see anyone who is alive that opposed. But with MILAOWM,we can get to know pereshatis friends and they are their own person. Sure,we got less screentime of them,but we can see how each of them really care for her and not ever one of them want to backstab pereshati because pereshati is their true friend and they will do anything to make sure pereshati happy. I also love they have their own opinions that are either agreen or disagree,but what's difference is that the story treated as a real person because friends can agree with each other and disagree on them,it's not wrong. Besides,I love her friends help her adjust and at the same time offered to pereshati which is useful. I want to say I really love pereshati visiting her friend's wedding. Ps,I laugh at the scene because making perejstais friends having a muscular face and be her protection squad is just too precious and too funny yet so good.

Yeah all the characters that get picked off are all dead, some of em didn't even appear on screen and we're still told they got killed.

even if they don't show up as often as the in-laws it doesn't mean Pereshatis friends show up one chapter and never come back again, they're minor characters sure but readers still see little drops into their lives with one of them getting married as your example states.

And characters can actually disagree with and argue with Pereshati but they aren't treated like evil people who need to die all the time, Mia is one I think of and as a scientist/doctor it makes sense why she wouldn't straight up agree with Pereshatis hypothesis since Phineas's life was on the line, she gets on the nerves of a lot people but instead of killing her off, Mia is actually given to apologize for her behavior and grow.

Harary though is an even better example cause she doesn't exactly hate Pereshati right off the bat, from her perspective Pereshati is a future victim of the Lapileons since she herself was when she had to give birth to Celphi, and never return which ends up with her falling into poverty. She's not there for much, just to share her story with Pereshati and be done with it. It was easy to see from both perspectives too during chapter 108 when the family shows up again in Hararay's home to give her pictures of Celphi, Pereshati just wants to give Harary closure but Harary is angered that they were back since they hurt her in the past. The readers know of course that the Lapileons aren't going to repeat that same mistake on Pereshati but does Harary know that? No.

Thats another thing MILAOWM does right, in the real world, your going to find people who disagree with you but that doesn't mean they are bad people.

JoJolion Ch. 107-108

Remember when JoJolion got insanely popular for a while, and everyone was spamming "Inca No Mezame Potatoes" memes all year long? Those were good times.

At this point, the final battle is nearly finished. Toru's Stand is still extremely dangerous, but Josuke was able to get past his defenses, with a little help from Yasuho. He's not dead, but he's badly hurt, so if you just stand back and leave him alone, it should just be a matter of waiting for him to die.

However, Toru ate the last fruit off the New Locacaca Branch, so he could recover from his wounds, but only if he can touch someone to act as a donor in the equivalent exchance process. That's how the New Locacaca works, by the way. The original version healed one body part in exchange with another. If you've got too many injuries, like Toru here, the Old Locacaca wouldn't do any good. But with the New Locacaca, you can absorb health from a second person, and they end up taking on your injuries.

And that's the situation Caato Higashikata has walked into. She's been renting an apartment lately, and she made a stew for Jobin, with Inca No Mazame potatoes, just the way he likes 'em. But when she brought it over for him, she found the apartment wrecked and Jobin dead.

Yasuho's fear is that Caato will try to attack Toru in a vengeful fury, except this would play right into Toru's hands. As soon as she gets close enough, he can grab her and heal himself with equivalent exchange. Even if she attacks him from a safe distance, his Wonder of U power is still active, so a calamity will strike her down. So Yasuho is desperately begging Caato to just do nothing. The only winning move is not to play.

But Caato has a plan, much to Yasuho's chagrin. She tosses some of her playing cards around him, and reveals her Stand abilitiy. Space Trucking can hide objects between playing cards. The cards themselves are no threat to Toru, so simply demonstrating all of this is not enough to trigger a calamity. She even uses the cards to hide Toru's arms, but this isn't an attack either, since it doesn't hurt him. It's just to keep him in one place.

That's an interesting angle, actually. Is it possible to simply trap Toru in a place where he can't escape? Like, if he falls down a hole and he can't get out, that's not an attack, and I don't think his Stand has the kind of physical power it would need to pull him out. Could you defeat him that way? That's not Caato's plan, but it's something to think about.

I'm skipping over a lot of stuff here, because most of this chapter is just Toru and Caato cutting promos on each other. Toru keeps taunting Caato about how her dead son's dreams were never realized, and Caato keeps explaining things. He's trying to goad her into making a mistake, and she's just dragging this moment out, for various reasons, but mostly just to keep Toru guessing.

Then we get this flashback to before the Wonder of U arc began. Caato came over one day and Jobin revealed to her the New Locacaca branch that he had secured during the orchard fire. He had been stressed out about keeping it hidden, and the stress of sharing that secret with Tsurugi, and the danger of losing the branch to enemies. Caato reassured him and offered to hide the branch--pot and all--inside her cards if the need arose.

I'm not sure what the point of this was, except to make it clear that Caato knew about the branch and the powers of its fruit. Specifically, Jobin showed her how two of his beetles did an equivalent exchange. I guess they just got close enough to the plant that they ingested some of the sap? There were only two fruits, and they hadn't grown yet in the flashback, so I don't know. The point is that both Jobin and Caato understood that the branch actually had this power.

So finally, Toru begins to get flustered, and demands to know what she's hiding in her cards. She didn't come out to the garage just to talk to him while he died, so what is she up to? So Caato finally shows him...

Turns out, she hid Tsurugi in there, and now the kid rolls out onto the floor and his body contacts Toru's, which initiates the equivalent exchange!

But which way will this go? Toru's the one who ate the fruit, so that should mean his injuries will be healed, not Tsurugi's disease. Well, Caato thought that, which is why she hid the plant in her cards too, and made sure to crush the branch so as to extract the sap. She drips this into Tusurugi's mouth, and that seems to do the trick. I'm not sure why this gives Tsurugi precedence in the exchange, but sure.

As Toru dies, he tries to talk his way out of this. He warns them that they'll never find another plant like this again, and if they destroy it now, there'll never be another. I would have thought they could just find another Old Locacaca plant in New Guinea, plant it near the Wall Eyes, and there you go. But Toru seems to think there were other coincidences at play, like the earthquake and everything else that happened in this Part. The New Locacaca that Kira and Josefumi unwittingly created was truly unique.

Needless to say, this doesn't impress anyone in the garage. The Locacaca has caused the Higashikatas and Yasuho a lot of grief, so who needs more of that bullshit? And even if it were a boon to humanity, if we need Rock Humans like Toru to access it, then it's probably not worth the trouble, since the Rock Humans have demonstrated time and again that they aren't trustworthy. Remember, Poor Tom died trying to bring what he thought was the branch to Toru, and Toru used his Stand to kill him. The Rock Humans can't even trust each other. The idea of them posing as doctors is bad comedy.

But mostly, fuck Toru. Even if he could snap his fingers and cure Holly and resurrect all of his victims, he'd never do it. You know, he might even have that kind of ability. Wonder of U causes misfortune to befall anyone who pursues or attacks Toru, but maybe it can do nice things for people too. We just never find that out because Toru has no altruistic tendencies. Helping someone else isn't in his character. It would never occur to him to try to help Holly or anyone else. So his pleas for mercy are especially pathetic.

Then he starts appealing to Yasuho, talking about all the good times they had together. Yeah, like the time you dropped a chunk of aircraft on her head, remember that? Yeah, Yasuho doesn't budge. She looks concerned, but I think it's just because she's so horrified to watch this horrible creature's death throes. Why is it taking so long?

At last, Toru finally dies, and his last thought is the image of a hornet, like the one he clung to as an infant so he could parisitize its nest. He realizes this was just a memory, but I guess maybe he somehow hoped that he could grab the hornet again and be taken to another nest where he could be safe and warm while he recovered.

That's really all Toru had, in the end. For all his polished facade, he never actually had any relationships with anyone. Not with Yasuho, not with his colleagues at the hospital, not with his fellow Rock Humans. They were all just means to an end, hornets that he could exploit to enrich himself. Toru often spoke of wanting good memories to keep him company. That seems to be what he saw in Yasuho. He never loved her or cared about her, but he wanted the experience of spending time with her all the same.

But in the end, his memories are all hollow. A regular human might die thinking of his family, like Jobin. But all Toru has is is his hornet.

So that's it for Toru, and that's also it for Caato, as she didn't get off scott free with this stunt of hers. When she poured the sap into Tsurugi's mouth, that constituted an attack on Toru, and so the calamity was activated. In this case, Toru had been brandishing a saw when Caato entered the garage, and this got trapped in her cards when she pinned down his arms. Somehow, as he was dying, the saw came out of the cards and flung itself into Caato's belly. I think that might be a malfunction of Space Trucking, sort of like how Wonder of U made Mitsuba and Josuke's Stands do unexpected things. Anyway, Caato lays down and dies, and I'm pretty sure she expected it to end this way.

Yasuho has this internal monologue about everything the Higashikata Family has endured in this story, but in the end, the family has gathered in the garage, not in mourning or despair, but because of hope. That's because, Tsurugi's Rock Disease has been cured thanks to the equivalent exchange, and now, at long last, the curse has been broken.

And this leads us to that moment where Tsurugi drags Norisuke out of his office, which was shown in the flash forward about twenty-odd chapters ago. What I still don't understand is: Why is Tsurugi bringing him out here? There are ambulances on the way, but I'm pretty sure they could come in the house and get Norisuke.

I think the more important thing Araki was trying to get across is that Tsurugi is finally healthy and free of the dread of worrying about the curse. While the rest of the family is still reeling from today's events, he's back on his feet and taking charge. So that's why he's the one who goes to get Norisuke, and he's the one who informs the others that he's still alive, and Jobin didn't hurt him as badly as everyone feared.

Okay, but Norisuke's right hand still fell off his arm. Like, that definitely happened. I guess he'll live even if they can't reattach it, because people lose hands and fingers in JJBA all the time, and it's more like a bad flu than anything else.

But it's not quite over yet! Toru may be dead, but somehow, Wonder of U is still active? The Stand crawls inside of Norisuke for some reason. It aggravates his injuries, though I'm not sure why. Wait, is this how it impersonated Dr. Satoru Akefu? Did Toru find the real Dr. Akefu and send Wonder of U into his body to do some sort of pod people thing?

Fortunately, Josuke's here to save the day, having just returned from the TG University Hospital. I think the idea in these two chapters is that Toru was recalling Wonder of U back to his side, and that's why it was floating around in the garage, but Josuke was also on his way back, which is why he made it on the scene not long after. Now that he's here, and there's no more bullshit Rock Insects to get in the way, Josuke can just shoot his Go Beyond bubbles at Wonder of U without any problem. He does as Yasuho to stand clear, though, because the bubbles are invisible and that makes it really difficult to aim them precisely.

And at this range, Josuke can't miss. Wonder of U explodes, and Yasuho holds him like the girlfriend in old B-Movies after the monster finally dies.

So that seems to wrap things up, right? No more Rock Humans, no more Locacaca, no more branches to fight over, no more curses, and no more Jobin to get in everyone's way. Also, Joshuu lost his right arm, so that probably just makes the whole town safer overall.

Wait, what about Holly? And what about Josuke's memories? Also what was the deal with that baby who washed up on shore the night Johnny died in 1901? And Karera said she would be back, so what happened to her? Also, Josuke and Yasuho need to kiss or something, right? There's a lot of loose ends we need to wrap up, but fortunately there's still two more chapters and...

They sit next to each other on the kitchen table, Rooster’s hand on hers, rubbing each of her knuckles as she holds her head up with her palm’s heel, staring down at her cocoa. She’s still nervous, he knows she is because she hasn’t said anything since they got to the kitchen, he wasn’t going to push her, but they were nearing the fifteen minutes’ mark and Rooster wasn’t used to not talking to Beatrice for so long while he was in the house.

He brings her fingers to his lips, kissing the soft skin before smiling at her, “Talk to me,gorgeous.’ he says and it snaps her out of her worries because her eyes turn to him almost in surprise “You look scared still.”

Beatrice’s frown only deepened and she laughed nervously, “I can’t help it.” she whispers, “It’s…a bit scary I guess.”

“Why?”

A shrug was thrown his way, “...Nikki just turned six months old,Roos.” she says, “She just turned six months old, we planned on having more kids but not so soon.” he holds his head up with his fist, still rubbing her hand, “Not to mention…how are we going to do this? It’s…scary.”

Bradley takes in her words with silence, still holding his head up and measuring how he will reply to that. Now that the sleep is finally out of his system and he’s fully awake, he had to admit there was a smidge of anxiety curling up in his stomach. It is a sudden and unexpected change in their lives, Nicole was a surprise but the second pregnancy so soon was…even more. 

He didn’t want Beatrice to blame herself and he knew that she was from the way she was holding back from biting her thumb, choosing to rub it against her fingers instead, giving a friction instead of a bite was good enough for her. “...we are going to do this like we do with Nikki.” she looks up at him with her brows low, “I know it’s not what we planned, but…honestly, it’s not so bad.”

“It’s not?”

‘Nah,” he smiles, dreamily at her, “Maybe that’s just the universe saying we better pop ‘em out sooner than we thought. That’s all.”

“...and, you aren’t worried?”

“I am worried.” he chuckles, “And happy, and anxious and a bit confused. But I’m happy…if that’s what’s supposed to happen gorgeous, then we can do it. We love babies. We love our one baby…we can love more.” he says, “If this pregnancy is safe for you as well…do you want it?”

“I do.” she says, “I do want it,it’s just…a bit overwhelming right now.”

“It is.” he rubs her fingers again, holding back a yawn and running his hand on his hair, “It is overwhelming but I think we can do it…and I know it’ll be a bit hard when I leave.” her eyes met his guiltily,”But I’ll do my best when I come back,you know that.”

“I know Roos, you are doing a great job.”

“Then why do you still look worried?”

Beatrice sighed, leaning back against the chair, “Because…I should be the one taking care of my fertility.” she heaves the words out as if they weighed a ton, keeping her frown present and lips pursed, “If I missed- or if the birth control shots failed, that’s on me. I should…I don’t know, pay more attention, so we wouldn’t have surprises,Roos…and I didn’t.”

He could almost see the blame weighing her down as she said that and he hated it, “Gorgeous, that’s not your fault.”

“What if I missed? I don’t even know if my own notes are right. What if I thought I had another shot and then…I didn’t?”

He shrugs, “You were busy helping Marcus, your mind was all over the place…and there was the bar, and Nikki too. You managed it but I know it took a huge toll on you.”

“...I guess.”

“Listen, it’s not your fault.” he kisses the back of her hand gently, hoping to make her look at him, “Gorgeous,Bea…baby, look at me.” she did, looking like a puppy dog who just broke an expensive vase, her eyes shining with unshed tears, “Aw, gorgeous, it’s okay…it’s okay. You didn’t do anything wrong.”

“But–”

“Okay,so the pregnancy - if positive- wasn’t planned. At least we’ll be able to deal with it,we both have good jobs, we have a good family circle that can help in case we need…worrying about it the way that you are isn’t right.” he pulls the chair’s legs closer to his so their knees touch and he can kiss her forehead, “I’m not mad at you.” she whimpers quietly and leans forward so her face is buried on his neck, “I’m not angry at all…we both wanted more kids and maybe it’ll happen sooner than planned.”

“But…your job and–”

“Don’t worry about it,I can handle.” he smiles, kissing the back of her head, “I’ll just miss you all a whole lot…but I can handle, gorgeous…I’ll always come back for you.”

She didn’t know if it was a mix of everything or just because she felt like it, but her eyes clenched with tears dribbling out towards his chest, “I-I know.” she sniffles, “I just want you to be okay.”

“Of course I am. I have you.” and her heart beat even faster, “Listen, if there is another baby Bradshaw on the way…hell, we should be ready because who can say they had their children back to back?”

“Six months apart.”

“I guess that means we fuck more than normal.”

Beatrice’s soft laugh was music to his ears, his own lips quirking up in a smile as she laughed against him,hugging his torso. He allowed her to laugh, chuckling a bit himself, and allowed her to calm down and her shoulders to relax.

When her laughter slowly turned into quiet giggles, he looked down just in time to see her tilting her head up, “That’s a pretty good point.” she smiles, nuzzling his chest, “Thank you,Roos.”

“You are welcome,gorgeous.” he gently cups the back of her head, brushing his thumb over the dark brown strands and kissing her scalp, “You are my girl, you know that. I’m here for you.” and he feels her cheek curve up against his chest as she smiles, her hold on him tightening. They didn’t move after that, just kept each other close and in silence, enjoying that they could only hear the sounds of their house and the snoring coming from the three dogs - amazingly Nicole didn’t care about those sounds either, she was probably used to it now.

After a while, he opens his mouth, “So.” he begins, “Do you want to do it now?”

“Hm?”

“The test.”

Beatrice tensed up in his hold, hesitating her reply until she sighed, “In a little bit,I’m just…trying to mentally prepare myself.” she whispers, “Will you go with me?”

“Of course, as if there is any doubt.” he smiles, “I’ll help you however you need…plus I’ve never seen how a pregnancy test works.”

“Oh, well, it’ll be something for both of us then.”

Rooster waited until she was relaxed enough to straighten her body and appear in front of him, blinking her green eyes to refocus on his face. Beatrice chewed her lower lip for a few seconds, inhaled and then exhaled, repeating the pattern for a few more seconds before she gave him a nod, “I’m ready.”

He smirks, standing to his feet and offering her his hand, “Good,we can have the cocoa upstairs.” he nods to her own mug as he picks his, sipping what was left of it inside, “A relaxing reward,hm?”

“Hah, sounds good.”

“It’ll be fine,Bea.”

She smiles up at him, hugging his arm since her other hand was busy keeping the mug within her grasp. Beatrice takes a few careful sips - honestly Rooster was so good in the kitchen she really should accept his offer in cooking more for the two of them when he wasn’t deployed - of her cocoa, humming happily once she swallowed, “This is so good,Roos.” she says, “Old family recipe?”

“Nah, that’s from the early years in the Navy. The eggnog, now that is a Bradshaw tradition, I’ve never had a better one in my life.”

“You should do it this Christmas.”

His smile faltered for a second, “Ah,I forgot…it’s in one of my mom’s old journals but,my aunt has them in her house somewhere.” he murmured.

“You didn’t invite your aunt or your uncle to our wedding,Roos.”

“I didn’t.”

Bea frowned, “You…don’t have to elaborate on the why.”

Bradley huffed almost in disbelief, shaking his head and looking over to where Nicole’s nursery was, the two of them pausing to check if their daughter was still asleep - which she was, thankfully - Eleanor and Jack’s eyes shining in the room as they meet the two adults, “I think it’s mainly because…after my mom died we just fell apart. I stopped talking to my cousins - who I was never that close anyway- and I just…got my life together.”

“When was the last time you saw them?”

“I don’t know,” he shrugs, “2010? Maybe?”

Beatrice just stared at him, she knew he didn’t have a big family but to think he didn’t have a connection to his mom’s side…that was so sad. Now she knew why he valued the Navy and his friends so much, especially Mav. “And she didn’t like Mav.” he says, “She just hated him. My uncle didn’t care, he just never cared too much, but my aunt? Ooof, god damn it she hated Mav and apparently disliked my dad too.”

“Oh that’s terrible.”

“Yeah, but my mom never cared for her opinion.” Bradley smiles, no anger in his eyes, nothing at all, as they stop in front of their room, “And it ground her gears so much it was hilarious.”

Beatrice smiled back at him, stepping into the room with him right behind her, “Would you want Nikki to meet them?” she asks, setting the now empty mug on the nightstand closest to the door, “They are still her great uncle and aunt.”

“Eh,I don’t know.” he shrugs, “Maybe, we’ll see.”

She knew he didn’t want to continue this conversation so she just stopped talking. Beatrice however inhaled once she was on the threshold of their bathroom, rubbing her hands together and looking back to see that he was right behind her, “Okay.”

“Okay?”

“Okay.”

He smirks, leaning his arm against the doorframe and leaning down to kiss her forehead, “What do you need me to do,gorgeous?”

Beatrice picks the three tests, huffing out a breath before looking up at him, “I just want you to stay.” she whispered, “That’s all.”

They both sat on the floor, waiting for time to pass, the three tests were lined up in front of  them as they waited. The boxes said to wait ten minutes max and he had to admit it was the longest ten minutes in his entire life. He set up his phone as a timer and to check on Nicole - thankfully she was still asleep - as they watched the three white tests.

Beatrice’s hands wrung together, he could hear her joints popping when she squeezed them, their shoulders touching. Rooster had one leg bent to rest his arm on top while Beatrice was seated on her folded knees, both of them sitting on the bathroom mat since neither wanted to grab towels to do that.

“Did it take this long with Nikki?”

“Kind of.”

“Hm.”

Both of them kept looking at the tests, Beatrice leaning forward to check only to frown and go back to her original position, “Nothing yet.”

“That’s okay, there’s still time.”

She sighed, leaning her head back so it touched the wall, looking up at the ceiling, ‘If it’s positive…what are we going to do?”

Rooster turned his head towards her, his eyes moving on her face then to the side as he thought about it, “We’ll work on it.”

“No,I know…I mean…I don’t know.” she sighs, “I’m…all over the place.”

“Baby, listen,” he grabs her hand, interlacing their fingers, “If there’s another baby in there,” he nods to her stomach, “They are going to be loved and taken care of just like Nikki is…you know that.”

“I-I know…”

“And we can use one of the guest rooms as another baby room, I know it’ll be amazing. You can paint it just like you did Nikki’s.”

That brought a smile out of her, and a little quiet chuckle as her thumb rubbed against his, “You are really okay with this.” she sounded amazed and yet she wasn’t, because Rooster had proven time and time again that he was possibly the best man that ever existed. He was her prince Charming - and she smiled more knowing how much he’d like that nickname - and he treated her so…amazingly.

“I am.” he smirks, “Listen,I know it’s scary,I know it is…but we both wanted that, we both wanted more kids. Again,so what if it’s sooner than we planned? We can handle it, and if they are just like Nikki, even better.” he says,kissing her forehead and keeping his lips there for a few seconds before he pressed his own forehead against hers, meeting her eyes, “You are my girl,Bea…and I am so happy with you. I am extremely happy with you…being your husband and Nikki’s father are the best gifts you could ever give me.”

Beatrice smiles shyly,her cheeks flushing red over his words. Only Rooster could make her blush like they were still dating, only him could make the butterflies in her stomach flutter wildly without stopping and only him could make Beatrice feel like she’s floating.

All she could do was smile and allow her body to relax and remember how Rooster truly was okay with this, this sudden experience, this sudden…pregnancy? If it was positive, “If it’s not positive…what are we going to do?”

“Hmmm…’ he clicks his tongue, “Work on making it positive?”

“Rooster!”

Her playful swat to his shoulder earned a snort out of him, followed by her own laughter. They tried to keep it down because they didn’t want to wake Nicole up - although if their daughter could last through a thunderstorm, laughter wouldn’t make her move at all - or make their neighbors wonder what else could they be loud about.

He looks back from her eyes to his phone, bringing it up to his lips, “...thirty seconds left.”

Beatrice’s smile diminished but it was still present, “Okay.” she whispers, hugging his arms as they watched the numbers go down, down, down until it reached the zero mark. They still stood there,looking at his now background - a picture of Nikki smiling up at them - in silence, Beatrice’s hold on his arm only tightened, “...okay.” she inhaled for courage, “I’m going to check.”

“I have the boxes here.”

“Okay…” she licks her lips, clenching her eyes as she brings the tests closer, holding them out like a fan but not opening her eyes to check. She turns to Rooster, offering the tests like a magician would to cards, “Pick one.”

Rooster chuckled, but he was just as nervous as she was. His stomach felt like jello, like there was something inside ready to burst - like the xenomorph, ready to break his chest open - as he hovered his fingers over each test. He licked his lips, all of them were turning away from him so he couldn’t see if there were lines or not, “This one.” he plucks one out, breathing in and out slowly before he brings it to his face alongside its box.

He flicks his eyes back and forth from the test to the instructions, Beatrice peeks one of her own eyes open while pressing the rest of the tests to her chest, “So?” she questions, scooting forward, “What is it?”

Rooster is staring at the two little lines, the same little lines that - when he looked at the box - said it was positive. “It’s uh…it’s positive.” his voice comes out quiet but his smile is never leaving, he just clears his throat, turning it towards her, “It’s positive,baby.”

Beatrice blinks, holding the test’s other end to bring it closer to her eyes, then looks up at Rooster, “...t-that’s…okay,um…” she fumbles a bit, closing her eyes again to bring the other two tests, “Pick another one.”

He was faster this time, choosing the one on the left and smirking when again, the two red lines were there, “Positive.” Beatrice let out such a heavy exhale he worried she was running out of breath, but when he turned to look at her she was holding the last test with both hands against her chest, “Together?”

She nods, scooting closer to him to their shoulders touched, thumb purposefully on top of the little visor so neither of them could see it yet. Rooster grabs the other end, smiling at her, “One.”

Beatrice licked her lips, “Two.”

“Three.”

She moves her thumb away and, honestly no one should be surprised now, the two red lines were there. Beatrice stared with her eyes wide and her lower lip being chewed on by her upper and lower teeth, “...I’m…pregnant.” she murmurs, looking up at him with big worried eyes, “Rooster,I’m pregnant.”

Her husband’s cheeks hurt from smiling, “You are- oh gorgeous, don’t cry,”  she didn’t even realize that she was crying, only doing so when she felt one lonely tear sliding down to the tip of her nose and touching the top of her lip. She let him hug her and he did, tightly, rubbing her back up and down with his lips touching her scalp, “You are okay,baby, it’s okay.”

“...I’m pregnant,Roos.”

“Yeah.”

“W-We are going to have another baby.”

He chuckles, “Yep, another baby Bradshaw on the way.” his own eyes stung when he said that. He was going to be a dad, again. He was really happy, he was…almost unsure if he was living in reality or not, but he was ecstatic, “Baby…we are going to be parents again.”

“Yeah…” she whispers, her own fears dissipating, “We uh…b-better call the clinic to make sure, you know?”

‘I know…we can arrange after the holidays if that’s okay?”

“It is.” she says, “...oh we…we can’t tell anyone yet Roos.”

Rooster blinked, “Shit,you are right.” he mutters, “Mav can’t know.”

“Or my parents…or siblings…or Shells.”

He stared at the opposite wall behind her, “...we’ll see all of them next week during Christmas,Bea.” he whispered. The silence that followed was deafening, “And I’ll see the Squad at work.”

“...Roos.”

“Yeah?”

“I think this will be really hard to keep secret.”

-I beat three of the Pantheons (Artist, Sage, Master), and was able to reach Pure Vessel in the Pantheon of the Knight, but did not defeat it (Wiped the floor with me actually)

Hit 'Em Where They Ain't, Boys

Over the years I've expressed my love for the sport of baseball. Love it. I've always had a favorite team to watch...the Fairbanks Goldpanners, the Nashville Sounds, and always, always the Atlanta Braves. The Braves are on my television right now battling with Chicago. They're up by one run in the second inning and I'm cheering them on. Apologies to my favorite diehard Cubs fan, Dina. All of that explains why I couldn't be more excited to share that we have tickets to see the Braves play the Nationals in D.C. on June 9th! An afternoon game in June, what's better than that? Nuttin'! We'll cross the bridge and catch the Metro which will drop us right at the stadium. No fighting traffic or looking for parking, hooray! I can't wait! As I've also mentioned a few hundred times I love the 1988 movie, Bull Durham. Baseball, steamy romance, big laughs, great music - what else do you need?

I could relate to Annie Savoy. I mean, not because she's leggy and gorgeous, I'm neither, but her love of the game and commitment to the season. I used to have her opening (PG) monologue memorized.

I believe in the Church of Baseball. I've tried all the major religions and most of the minor ones. I've worshipped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms, and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I learned that, I gave Jesus a chance. (sigh) But it just didn't work out between us. The Lord laid too much guilt on me. I prefer metaphysics to theology.

You see, there's no guilt in baseball, and it's never borin' - which makes it like sex. There's never been a ballplayer slept with me who didn't have the best year of his career. Makin' love is like hittin' a baseball. You just gotta relax and concentrate. Besides, I'd never sleep with a player hittin' under .250, unless he had a lot of RBIs or was a great glove man up the middle.

You see, there's a certain amount of life wisdom I give these boys. I can expand their minds. Sometimes when I've got a ballplayer alone, I'll just read Emily Dickinson or Walt Whitman to him. And the guys are so sweet, they always stay and listen. Of course, a guy'll listen to anything if he thinks it's foreplay. I make them feel confident, and they make me feel safe - and pretty. Of course, what I give them lasts a lifetime. What they give me lasts 142 games. Sometimes it seems like a bad trade, but bad trades are part of baseball. I mean, who can forget Frank Robinson for Milt Pappas, for God's sake? It's a long season and you gotta trust it. I've tried 'em all, I really have. And the only church that truly feeds the soul - day in, day out, is the Church of Baseball.

I agree, Annie. Which is why I made this shirt to wear to the game.

I need to look good while I yell at the ump and call balls and strikes. I know they appreciate my help. Trying to decide which earrings to wear, of course the big earrings appeal to me.

I'll probably just wear the beaded hoops on the far left. Ponytail, hoops in Braves colors, and a Church of Baseball tee. If that doesn't spell crazy fan I don't know what does. Whoohoo, let's go, Braves! I don't want to hear a word about my craziness. It's fun to have something to look forward to - and if there's a rainout I may cry.

Alright, that's enough silliness from me for one night. I don't expect you to share my passion for baseball or my love of Bull Durham. I do hope that you can share a bit of my excitement for something fun on the horizon. When we don't have things to look forward to, life becomes drudgery. It doesn't have to be anything big - for me it can be a trip to a garden center or a shopping trip with my sister. Life needs to be sprinkled with occasional treats. So send good juju out to the universe for fair weather on June 9th, then tune in to the Braves game. I'll be the wackadoodle in the red shirt (that should narrow it down).
